Prepared for Raining Days

When the rain started pouring down a couple of weeks ago, I realized that Cooper was going to need rain boots this year. Since all we have by way of hand-me-downs are pink boots, I started searching for the perfect pair for my little man. After a whole afternoon of dragging the entire family from store to store last weekend, I finally just ordered the ones I wanted from the Internet. Last night Cooper's new fireman rain jacket and rain boots arrived!

I think he is just the cutest thing! And I love how his little face just lit up when he saw them.

A Visit from Oregon & Rain

This morning I'm sitting here in my quiet family room listening to the rain. It is coming down pretty hard out there and I love it! It has been quite some time since we had rain here. We definitely need the rain here in Northern California, but the timing might not be the best since Jason still has about 40% of his ranches waiting to be picked. It is supposed to last just 24 hours, so hopefully the grapes will weather the storm and still be in good shape to pick later this week.
Now it is time for me to buy warm clothes and jackets for the kids and pull my winter stuff out from its summertime hiding place.

Yesterday morning, before the rain, Joe and Bette headed back to Oregon. They came down over the weekend to watch the girls play soccer. The kids were so excited to see them and Cooper was disappointed when we got home from school last night that they were gone. I think the grandparents were amazed to see how big each of the children has gotten since our last visit.

Rainy Saturday Morning

What do you do on a rainy Saturday morning? Since Daddy was gone we headed to the pet store. I wish we had a Children's Museum or Aquarium close by, but since we don't PetCo will do. We spent over an hour there looking at the birds, critters, fish and reptiles. The finches were our favorite birds. They were so busy flitting around and singing. Emma Jo loved the mice and asked at least a dozen times if she could get one some day. Grace was happy to find Nemo, Dory, the turtles and the tortises. She was quick to tell me the difference between a turtle and a tortoise is that tortoises live on land and turtles live in the water. Cooper was wide-eyed looking at everything. As we were touring the store I noticed several other families doing the same thing to pass away the day.
