Saturday night Emma Jo had her first date. We packed the "little kids" off to Grammie & Grampa's so that Jason and I could take Emma Jo out. She is growing up so fast. We realized that we need to acknowledge that she is the oldest and do special things with her.
Our date started with dinner at Langley's. Langley's has recently changed their format to be "small plates" (although their dishes are huge) so we figured we could order several dishes and there would be sure to be something that Emma Jo would enjoy. I was so proud of her when she willingly tasted everything Jason said she would like. She tried calamari (liked it), short ribs (liked them), fingerling potatoes (loved them), and artichoke dip (too cheesy). We finished the night with Flourless Chocolate Cake which everyone loved!
Our date continued on Sunday with breakfast at Omelette Express. Emma Jo was unsure about omelettes but was pleased when she discovered they make great hot chocolate and french toast. After breakfast it was off to church and then to a movie. Our date finished with a quick trip to the mall. It has been a long time since we got to spend so much one-on-one time with Emma Jo and I really enjoyed it. She is definitely growing into a beautiful young lady. With three children it is a challenge to give undivided attention to each one, but I'm going to do my best to concentrate on that goal this year.
